LOUISVILLE, Ky.–(hospitalitybusinessnews.com)–Papa John’s International, Inc., today announced Mike Nettles, SVP, Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO), has joined its growing pizza family. With over 27 years of proven business and technology leadership in the hospitality and retail sectors, Nettles joins Papa John’s after most recently serving as Vice President of Enterprise Architecture and IT Strategy at Panera Bread Company. Nettles will report to Papa John’s President and Chief Operating Officer, Steve Ritchie.
Papa John’s recently announced that 55 percent of its total domestic sales now come through digital platforms and 60 percent of those digital transactions come from mobile devices – a first among national pizza chains. Nettles will continue to enhance the brand’s digital technology with a focus on quality, utility and ease-of-use for customers.
“We are excited to welcome Mike Nettles to the Papa John’s team,” said Ritchie. “Not only is Mike a great cultural fit for our company, but he is also a proven leader in the digital and retail sectors that will help us deliver a better customer experience and elevate our digital platforms.”
Under Nettles’ leadership, Papa John’s will continue to approach technology and innovation from the perspective of the customer experience, like its restaurant industry first Apple TV app and providing more online payment options at checkout than any other pizza chain. Additionally, Papa John’s was recently awarded Technomic’s 2017 Chain Restaurant Consumer Choice Award for “Use of Technology Improves the Experience.”
At Panera, Nettles was responsible for driving IT architecture and processes for the transformational Panera 2.0 business model. Nettles also led the technical design, development and implementation of digital and in-café Panera assets.
Prior to Panera, Nettles served as the Chief Technology Officer at DiningIn Inc. He also held positions with Torex, Brinker International, NeoStar Retail Group and was the Founder and Principal of Red Chair Ventures LLC.
