Nassau The Bahamas — September 19, 2011—(www.hospitalitybusinessnews.com) What’s going on at TripAdvisor. Looks like the slogan – “reviews you can trust” is changing. Well, at least in part.
It seems that hotel reviews are no longer trustworthy they are simply “reviews from our community” while restaurant reveiws may still have creditbility and continue to be “reviews that you can trust”.
Hospitality Business News reportedearlier in September that TripAdvisor is being investigated in the UK by the Advertising Standards Agency. In particular the agency is looking into the word “trust” and whether or not this is misleading.
The case in the UK was brought by KwikChex, an online reputation management company which says that it is representing a group of 2000 hoteliers. The allegation is that many of the reviews contained on TripAdvisor are misleading and in some cases fraudulent.
